The farmhouse originates from the 16th century, doesn‘t have a cellar and had 4 large rooms on the first floor. The top floor wasn‘t used. On the ground floor there was a living area, the kitchen, 2 bedchambers and a workshop, a wide vestibule and hallway.
In the 1950‘s there were plans to build a new house, but as this was not financially viable, the decision was made to renovate the old house. The foundations and walls on the right hand side of the house were rebuilt, the old walls were made of large stones, some of which are still here today. In place of the workshop a new kitchen was built and a large pantry. The first bathroom was constructed. One bathroom for everyone - hard to imagine these days.
In the 1960‘s three smaller rooms were enlarged. 5 guests could be accommodated. The rooms were with breakfast, hot and cold running water, stove heating, and the WC was on the ground floor. The foundation stone for guest accommodation was laid.
In 1966 the roof truss was rebuilt, in 1970 central heating was installed and little by little windows, doors and walls were renewed.
In 1971 a three-bedded room and 2 double rooms, a shower and toilet on the corridor were constructed in the attic. From then on guests came in winter too.
In 1979 work on the new house began, which was able to be rented from 1980/81. Without further ado holiday apartments were decided on. 8 holiday apartments and a lovely „granny flat“ with retirement in mind are housed in the new building.
Just rented out one winter season and everything newly finished round the house, when on the 3rd of August 1981 there was a big storm and everywhere was flooded, the farmhouse too. The damage was enormous, but was fortunately covered by insurance.
In 1992 renovation work was started once again on the farmhouse, holiday guests‘ demands rose and rebuilding work was undertaken for the third time. In order to increase the added value the roof was raised. 2 very lovely and spacious holiday apartments were created catering to the latest demands. At the same time the ceilings were raised, the doors renewed, all electric cables relayed and strengthened. A successful project as the traditional style of our old Pongau farmhouse was preserved.
In 1997 we decided to specialise and made our farm a „holiday farm for babies and children“. A very good decision, which we haven‘t regretted to this day.
In 2000 the country house was once again rebuilt, it was 20 years old and we renovated and improved the whole house.
Under the motto „preserve the old, try out the new“ we extended and renovated the farmhouse once again in 2005. We now have a new „Erbhofstube“ and two very nice holiday apartments. We have managed to harmoniously combine the extension with the existing farmhouse . The image of a 4-flower accommodation property was improved once again. The original idea of having guests to earn a bit extra has long since turned into our main source of income. |
